town
BODY:
Married singer-songwriters Aimee Mann
and Michael Penn are embarking on an 11-date joint tour to support their
new albums.
Penn, brother of actor Sean, releases "MP4 (Days Since Lost Time Accident)"
(Epic) on Feb. 1, while Mann, a former Bostonian, is self-releasing "Bachelor
#2" later this month.
The tour, which stops at the Somerville Theatre on Feb. 12, also comes on
the heels of Mann's sizable contribution to the soundtrack of the new movie
"Magnolia," from "Boogie Nights" director Paul Thomas
Anderson. Penn also has worked with Anderson, scoring his first film, "Hard
Eight," and composing the music for "Boogie Nights," in which
he also had a small role.
Mann, the former Til Tuesday singer, contributed nine tracks, including
a cover of the Three Dog Night hit "One," to "Magnolia,"
which opens in Boston on Friday.
Mann appears on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" tonight. An on-sale
date for concert tickets hasn't been announced. - SARAH RODMAN
