ELVIS COSTELLO might have slagged her from the Paradise stage - then again,
maybe not - when he said his songwriting pal Aimee Mann had developed "amnesia"
about him - but you'll want to see what this Boston-gone-(mostly)-LA gal
has been up to. Some dark and alluring places, we'd guess, judging from
the album "I'm With Stupid" and her last Paradise show. She's
back at the Paradise tonight. The mischief-minded Cows are Upstairs at the
Middle East and Come celebrates the release of its new album Downstairs.
El Vez- cool Elvis tunes plus pro-Mexican agitprop rewrites - is at Bill's
Bar. Say goodbye to booker Dana MacDonald tonight, tomorrow and Sunday at
T.T. the Bear's Place. The hard-rocking and ever-frantic Zulus headline
tonight and tomorrow. A woman with one of the most gorgeous voices in pop,
Syd Straw, is there Sunday singing wrenching songs of heartbreak and pulling
sly, self-deprecating witticisms out of her hat between songs. Finally,
dream pop heaven with the Cocteau Twins Monday night at Avalon.
