I'm With Stupid (DGC)
Most female rockers these days don't just split up with boyfriends, they
split them in half.
So it's nice to find former 'Til Tuesday singer Aimee Mann
running against the grain with her second solo album (out Wednesday), by
singing about love's labors lost with emotions other than pure hatred.
Mann blends both vulnerability and strength in her songs, just as she sets
distorted guitars against cool keyboards and sharp lyrical insights against
her pop-melody voice. She's in good company with assists by Juliana Hatfield
and Squeeze's Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford.
