HEADLINE: Aimee Mann to kick off tour

BODY:
No question about it, Aimee Mann deserves to be a big star.
But various twists of fate -- and some legal wrangling -- have kept her
career floating in some sort of limbo-land.
Her first solo album, ''Whatever,'' was released on Imago Records, the same
label as Saratoga Springs' own Figgs.
While the Figgs have landed at Capitol Records for their next album, Mann
is finally resurfacing with her sophomore effort at Geffen Records. Featuring
guest appearances by Glenn Tilbrook and Chris Difford (both of Squeeze),
Juliana Hatfield, Michael Penn and Bernard Butler (formerly of London Suede),
Mann's new album, ''I'm With Stupid,'' is set to be released on Tuesday.
But fans of the former Til Tuesday vocalist don't have to wait. On Friday
night, you can catch Mann as she kicks off her East Coast tour at Pearl
Street in Northampton, Mass.
